Why do some people constantly update their facebook status?

I check facebook everyday, but I probably update my status maybe once or twice a month. I notice that some people update their status numerous times a day!
For example: before me and my ex started dating he would barely update his status, but ever since we broke up a couple months ago he updates it like everyday...and always tags people he's with and where he's going. It actually makes me laugh...cuz when we dated before he was always the one that would make fun of those people that did that, and now he's the one who's doing it.
Another example: this girl updates her status atleast 2-4 times a day about what she's doing, where she's going, what she's watching on tv, ect.
Do people do this because they like to make their lives seem more interesting or is it a cry for attention?

Some people have nothing better to do than sit on Facebook all day. Also, they may be trying to impress someone. I would say it's both "trying to make their lives seem more interesting" and a cry for attention. I have people on Facebook who update constantly and it bothers me.

It depends on the tendency of the person. Some people have a habit to share everything that they think and show this thinking on the facebook.
