Which Sims 3 Expansion Pack should I get?
I will have enough money to buy one expansion pack. I really want Ambitions or Generations. Which one do you suggest?
I already have Late NIght and I love it, I just have some extra money and would like to buy another expansion for it.

Out of those two I suggest generations.
Ambitions is fun because it comes with a new town, and new skills like sculpting, and new professions like investigator, interior designer, salon stylist.
And Generations is mostly like new furniture and clothing, [no new town]. It's lets you customize your sims to be more realistic in a way, like family life. There's also video cameras that you can use to record you sims life and then play it back on the tv. And actual weddings, bachelor/bachelorette parties. Teens can have there parents go away and have teen parties, graduate from high school. There are also boarding schools for teens and children that teach them skills depending on which school they go to.

In summary, Ambitions is like new town, more skills, more jobs called professions [where you actually do the work rather than send them to a building and set the speed on fast]
And Generations is more clothing, furniture, interactions to make the life more realistic-like.

Whatever you choose, they are both good games!

If you can only get one, I would recommend Ambitions, because it adds ALOT to the game. I've had it since it came out, and I still haven't tried all the new career and skill options that come with it. Generations is also good, but in my opinion it doesn't add as much to the gameplay as Ambitions.

It also depends what you like to do in the game, though. If you like your sims to work on their careers and you want to be able to play them while they're at work, go for Ambitions. But, if you prefer to have big families and focus on your sim's home life, go for Generations.

I have ambitions, it's awesome! I suggest it because I think it allows you do do more stuff than on generations; I honestly don't really understand what new things generations allows you to do.

I suggest Generations if you play families or legacies.

Ambitions, while entertaining for a while, really only works well if you're playing a single sim. Since you take your sim to work (assuming you play one of the professions added in Ambitions, like ghost hunting or private investigator), anyone else in the household is ignored until the work day is done. You have to control them and what they do. The new professions are very monotonous and repetitive, so while they're interesting, they get boring after a while. Sculpting and inventing are neat. I rarely play in the town that it came with.

Generations is great if you like families. You get all kinds of things that really enhance your family life. Children and teens can prank people, like making the toilet overflow, stealing tests from school, or throwing eggs at a neighbor's house. If your baby is lucky, when it's born you might get a doll from a relative, and the doll can become your sim's imaginary friend (and maybe turn real!). Babies and toddlers can be pushed around in strollers (which is really cute). Children and teens can go to boarding school and gain new skills, or they can join after school activities, like scouts, ballet, shop class, etc. Teens have mood swings, hehe. There's hopscotch and sandboxes, tree houses, costume chests with different outfits and interactions, bunk beds, bouncy rides...

For adults, weddings are a lot cooler. Set down chairs and your guests watch, crying and cheering, and they even throw rice when it's over. You can cut the cake too. Adults might go through a mid-life crisis. Elders can walk around with a cane. You can videotape all the events in your life, and you can share memories on the website or on Facebook.

So there's a TON of stuff to do in Generations, but it's mostly geared toward families. If that's not how you play, you probably won't like it. But if you do play families, it's your best choice!
