I would think it really rather pitiful if it had come to expecting real-life friends and family to use the vehicle of Facebook to wish me happy birthday!

Nobody is perfect, not even you! Memory is a funny thing. You remember one thing but not the other. It has nothing to do with want. Some things we forget and feel very bad about forgetting. It's a matter of age. You just have to except it, or you'll drive yourself crazy. If you keep deleting people you think have ignored you you'll be friendless pretty soon!!!
