What is the Conservative Agenda and way of thinking about government?

Agenda? To restore the Republic; allow STATES the right to determine drug laws, drinking age, gay marriage, etc.

The idea is to give the power back to the people. Take it away from the FEDERAL govt, who are unaccountable, and give it to the STATE govt's who are held much more accountable by the constituency.

1) demonized, starved, or privatized? No. Not demonized, just held accountable. Starved? Is it 'starving them' to ask they only spend what they take in? And privatized.... yes, to a degree. We shouldn't privatize the military ... we see how devastating that is with Blackwater. But we should encourage privatizing education, agriculture, medicine, insurance, and healthcare.

2) no. not at all. Unions have been a big drain on our economy. This is proven fact. They are grossly inefficient. Especially those unions who force people into their 'club'.

And if that's what you hear from conservatives, you are engaged with those who most uninformed...... and lets face it, there are AS MANY uninformed liberals as there are conservatives...let's not split hairs here. Taking the word of the ill-informed and taking it as a representation of the conservative platform is disingenuous.

Yes you are wrong that Conservatives think about those issues in that way. That is the way Liberals perceive the way Conservatives think. That would be wrong.

To restate them the actual way Conservatives think would be:

1. All parts of the market have wealth in different ways, labor has potential wealth and business's have accumulated wealth or potential wealth by the ability of the firm to borrow and have ideas that are worthy of investments. Yes Government is not a source of wealth production they can and should help facilitate rules that benefit society. But Government is not efficient in any function. Even if government does it's function well it is inefficient in some way. Look at the military. It is excellent at it's duty to protect but it has a lot of waste in the process. on the other hand take Education. Government spends lots of money on it but education has deteriorated over the years.

2. Last point first, no Conservative wants the environment treated like a sewer, sensible rules are what government should make for the protection of everyone. But some environmentalist don't weigh the cost to business in order to protect a simple bug from going extinct. Business is always going to look at people as resources and weigh them according to the cost benefit they have. As long as there is freedom to agree to terms that are beneficial to all parties I don't see why there is a problem. If government interferes with the free bargaining process it does damage and not good.
