It's not, that isn't a problem for the free market. It is up to us as a society to do that, not the market, and not the government.
We live in a free society, we can do a lot of things without asking permission from the government. We can start with our own families, and then our neighborhood, and work outwards until we reach everyone. Ads |

Great question. No, it won't.
Nor will Republicans. |

The Market is not supposed to solve social problems.
The reality of life is that people will never be equal. Governments around the world have tried to change that, only to learn the harsh lesson that if you mess with the "system" to make everyone equal, you invariably succeed in making everyone equally poor. |

it won't. not everything can or should be capitalized. which is why in general polling, republicans tend to do better, but in specific polls where a specific issue like SS or poverty are concerned, liberals tend to do better. all of politics these days, i.e. health care, is whether or not the national narrative will be government vs. free market in general, or on that most basic of levels, or what specific thing the government is trying to spend money on. this last time around, it appears that basic won, and hence the republicans.

While I agree with you in general, it is also not entirely accurate to dismiss the free market as being without a place regarding social matters. For example, most of our greatest philanthropists are/were millionaires and billionaires as a matter of their success in free market. Without a free market system (capitalism) to generate the business growth, they would not have the capital necessary to fund schools, museums, medical facilities, research centers, etc.
Having said that, the Free Market is NOT going to solve any of our major social problems, because that is not their job, and the free market has become corrupt to the point that it exploits the vulnerability of average Americans, rather than striving to continue toward our growth. We need government to regulate our market so there is a balance between the haves and the have nots, American government is the conduit through which average Americans have a say in how our country is run. |
