Facebook and Instagram randomly asking for ID?

The same thing happened to me 3 days ago!! Don't like the idea for sending any type of ID!! My account is still active as well. I have been on Facebook since 2007. I am in my 40's, but was wondering too, if they're trying to target kids under the age of 13. I would just like to know for sure why this is happening!!

We have a thread going over on my blog. Trying to get some national attention to this so we can get Facebook to have some accountability for this massive screw up. This isn't just women either, according to my research, it's women, men and children across Facebook AND Instagram in the USA, Canada and Australia.

I've been locked out since 1/19. I've uploaded my government issued ID (with all personal information other than my name and DOB blacked out) and still no response. I have at least 80 people who have commented that have been affected too... this is a MASSIVE fail of epic proportions.

I agree, I don't understand why we can't find more info. Also some people are getting access to their accounts and some are not hearing anything. I tried uploading my ID but it keeps giving me an error message and will not accept it.

I'm 46 years old and I have also been locked out of both Facebook and Instagram ... with no explanation and no status update. I uploaded my Id (blocking all but my face, name and birth date) but I don't get a response back. Friends and Family said they can still see my account. I told them to post some stuff ... might as well have fun with it ... just wondering if I will ever get back in. I also sent an email to my local News 10 and News 12 ... see what they can find out. And I posted a msg on Linkedin. Looking at my pics on Facebook ... I'm obviously over the age of 13 yrs. Not sure why I was targeted.

Same thing is happening to me! As of Monday late afternoon. Not really sure what happened, but I am sure glad it isn't just me. I say give me access or delete my account, not cool to have my profile up without my control. And I have a business page!?! And the same with instagram! Total bs!

I was logged out of both on Monday night and I know others via twitter who have sent ID going back to Saturday, it's a completely out of order. All the people I have noticed on twitter who are bloced out of FB & Instagram, me included are well older than 18, so that part isn't true.

My first thought was a hack, but seemingly it is coming from FB

The annoying thing is yahoo and twitter is the only way you can find anything out and at the moment, that is a big fat 0.

No Reason, No answers, No way of getting through to the Big Brother called Facebook.

But worst of all no-one knows how to stop it, or get there accounts back?

This happened to me and I thought it was because I have a shared account for both fb and ig but i sent a pic of my I.D and blurred out everything but my pic birthday and name.. It said I would receive a email soon and didn't come until 4days later! A long time but it came, as for fb now it's telling me the same thing, keep in mind fb bought out ig recently so it isn't a shocker it's happening to both accounts. Very effin stupid if you ask me but whatever, it's get it done or else by a deadline your accounts get cancelled or also sending the wrong info ....

I received the exact same email on Tues, Jan 22. I didn't suspect anything when it was just asking for my name, email and birthday for verification. So, I entered the information expecting to be able to sign on. And then, like the above people, it said you will receive an email. That email did not come until 4 hours later. Then the email stated I needed photo id. I was baffled as to why I should send them my govt photo ID. What right do they have to ask for that? I posted through my husbands facebook what was going on and everyone of our friends said DO NOT send them photo id. A friend of mine that is a detective said "ABSOLUTELY DO NOT SEND THEM YOUR ID, THEY WILL TAKE IT AND OPEN CREDIT CARDS UNDER YOUR NAME". So, I sit here 2 days later continuing to research the issue. I've sent several emails to facebook, tried to call the nonsense phone number, and I have only gotten one response back stating

"Hi,
Thanks for taking the time to report this to us. We're sorry to hear you're experiencing an issue using Facebook. While we aren't responding to every report, we may reach out to you for more information as we investigate this.

Thanks again for taking the time to help us improve Facebook."

Thanks,
The Facebook Team

I don't know what to do! And, my son has also lost access to his instagram as I have it linked to my email. The thought is now crossing my mind that maybe because my son is doing things on instagram to make them think I myself am a child? I'm 37 years old. I really wish facebook would get back to me. I refuse to send them a copy of my license until I know for sure that this is not a scam!!!
