Avast is blocking my facebook messages, but why =)?

Just started happening to me as well..... must be a change that Avast have made today. Hopefully they'll fix it soon.


UPDATE: They've said they will have it fixed within an hour.


UPDATE 2: They've now fixed it. Download the latest virus definitions.

Same exact thing is happening to me. I think it's a facebook or Avast issue. Hopefully someone can alert them and it will be fixed shortly. This is the first time I ever had an issue on facebook messages and I am using Avast also.

Yep, happening to me here too, that's why I Google searched it and found your message. Hope it is resolved soon, my notifications are really limited and I can't see my messages at all.

my Update - forced a manual update of Avast and Voila! problem solved.

hello im french and have the same problem right now...i delete avast for 10 mn and try to open my messages and it's open. One thought : is a fake or is to obliged us to take the avast not free...maybe. I hope this problem ll be fixed quickly by avast...

i have same problem.But mine problem started when i turned on my PC..i got same warning message like that and even when i wanted to open FB massages.Now im not sure is it my PC alrdy infected or is something about Avast update..i don't know,maybe some update issues or something else.If someone get some solution lemme know pls.Thx

It seems that only Avast users are getting this error message, after the virus pattern files were updated slightly less than 4 hours ago (currently June 5, 2013, 7.30 pm +8 UTC).

Most likely a false positive that's detecting the ajax call (codes to display information like our facebook messages) as malicious, but we may have to wait until Avast updates their pattern files.

BTW, you can try opening those message from the chat boxes function bottom right hand corner of your browser.

just update your browser if you are using google chrome for instance, go to
chrome://chrome
and click on update
it solved for me
