If you have a blackberry or the bbm app it's the phones ID so you can talk to your friend or person with over the app which is free messaging. Like when you attach to a wireless network.

I hope that makes sense?

That is a unique id which every Blackberry messenger has. Just like an email address or a phone number. People share them so they can add each other on Blackberry messenger. It is no use to you unless you download BBM.
