How do some people have so many friends on facebook?

Yeah, I only have like 85 or somthing lame like that, but I only add people that I know, like I dont ad everyone in my school just because I saw them n the halls once! I honestly think people do that to be 'cool' or they like to make friends with phedophiles

Don't feel bad, I only have a little over 200 and I personally think that have hundreds and thousands of Facebook friends is a bit ridiculous. I'm getting really annoyed with the people on Facebook anyways with all their "like if you think I'm hot" statuses and what not. I'll be deleting my account and moving to Google+ when it is open to the public.

They add friends of friends of friends..it's stupid. If you don't talk to them, why bother? They just want more friends themselves.

I only have like 214 and this one girl at my school has like 1600 something >:| She adds high schoolers who don't even know her.

People usually add mutual friends,people they've met once or twice,someome they've seen around school or at social gatherings,etc.

i know what you mean i know this girl with i think 2986 friends and she said that one of her friends post her on a wall that says massive adds and she got 50 request in 2 minuets so yea some people add them or sometimes they add random people

EDIT: for girls most guys add them(same with guys girls add them) like me when i got request they were from guys or bisexual girls i had allot of friends but deleted the ones i don't talk to sometimes they add people because there cute, hot, sexy, pretty you get the idea but they don't talk to them
