Do you agree/disagree with candidates who have expressed willingness to privatize Social Security?
Sharron Angle in Nevada, Ken Buck in Colorado, and Pat Toomey in Pennsylvania have all talked
about privatizing Social Security. Considering what the stock market did to us in 2009, do you think that's a good and safe idea? What other options do you think exist? Ads |

Agree 100%.
The return from the government is about 2%. If you privatized, the return would be an average of 8% or more AND the government would not be able to keep any of your unused funds. SS is the biggest ponzi scheme ever created. |

YOur question is what is wrong with America. We got screwed in the Lincoln Savings and Loan scandal. Then the Enron scandal. And now we have the mortgage scandal.
As such, I do not trust private enterprise. I only believe in America and its government. |

Disagree. All you have to do is look at what you lost on your 4O1K when the market crashed and ask yourself what would happened if that was my Social Security?
The key word is SECURITY not investment, not profit or portfolio but Security. If you go back and look at why it was created and why it was expanded over the years it's because so many people hit hard times and lose everything. This is meant to be that if you worked your whole life, you paid your taxes so will have some kind of SECURITY that when you get old you will have some money to by food ( it may be cat food but its something) I have seen way to many programs go public only for it to cost way to much money and the security aspects quickly get replaced by the needs to make a profit. |

Let be honest, Europe is finding the hard way that not longer can afford her Social Security and Entitlement ,
China has little government safety net to prevent the cost of it And our Deficit and and economic woes and longer life expectancy is making not just Social Security but Medicare and Medicare a real unsustainable entitlement, The projections are that in few decades all taxes will just for that. In matter of fact our present tax revenue barely cover both programs for education and the rest we need to borrow, s the problem with Social Security and Medicare were in the open many years ago but the political will to confront such issues was not existence Because none dare to give the voter a doses of Hard Truths In an ideal world where money would be printed without creating devaluation and inflation we could buy our way printing bills but in real world is different We had few choices either buck our head in the sand which will not take the problem away or take the Risky and Difficult Task to be Blunt Honest and Admit that in order to take care of the economic gangrene first will be a lot pain The British are finally coming around that postponing the pain will not make the problem away and they are taking the Unpopular but fiscal responsible path for long term health Cut, cut cut If politicians from both parties had not pursue for decades the policies of borrow and expending more than we have, we never would have being in such distress and forced into painful but needed life saving surgey |
